What is Droplet?
Droplet is a fast-paced word building game for mobile and desktop. You start each round with three base letters — a consonant, a vowel, and another consonant — arranged on tiles in the middle of the screen. Your goal is to drag letters from the keyboard onto those tiles to build as many valid words as possible before the 90-second timer runs out.
The twist is the chain bonus system. Score a word, then immediately add another letter to it to score a chain — worth double points. Keep the chain going as long as you can for massive scores.
How to Play
Start a game. Three base letters appear in the word zone — one vowel between two consonants. These are your foundation letters and they stay in place throughout the game.
Build a word. Drag letters from the keyboard into the word zone, dropping them before, between, or after the base letters. You can also tap a key to add it to the end of the word.
Score it. As soon as your letters form a valid word, it scores automatically. The word flashes green and a water droplet animation plays. You need to add at least one letter beyond the base three to score.
Chain it. Leave the scored word on screen and add another letter to it. If it makes another valid word, you earn a chain bonus — worth double the normal points. Keep going to build huge chains!
Remove letters. Tap any non-base letter to remove it from the word. Drag a letter outside the word zone to discard it. Press Clear to remove all added letters and start fresh.
Beat the clock. When the 90-second timer hits zero the game ends and your final score is revealed. Aim for gold, silver, or bronze to unlock fireworks!
Scoring
| Action | Description | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Valid word | Any word using the base letters plus additions | +1 |
| Chain bonus | Add a letter to a just-scored word to make a new word | 1+(N×2) |
| 7+ letter word | ⭐ Long word bonus | +1 |
| 10+ letter word | ⚡ Extra long word bonus | +3 |
| Tough letter (J,X,Q,Z) | 🔥 Per tough letter in the word | +3 |
Chain Bonus Example
Base letters: R – A – T. You add an E to make RATE (+1 point). Then add D to make RATED — that's a chain! With 1 letter added: 1 + (1×2) = 3 points. Your total for two words: 4 points.
Tips & Tricks
Think ahead
Before scoring a word, consider what letters you could add to it. A short word that can become a longer chain is worth more than two separate short words.
Use tough letters
The letters J, X, Q and Z each add +3 points to any word they appear in. If you get a base combination with one of these, prioritise words that use them.
Go long
Words of 7 or more letters earn a length bonus. Words of 10 or more earn an even bigger bonus — and a fish jumps across the screen to celebrate!
Watch the chain counter
The Chain counter at the top of the screen shows your current streak. Any invalid word attempt or letter removal breaks the chain — so be careful when experimenting.
